What Is Collective Bargaining?

Collective bargaining is the right to negotiate on issues important to interpreters (e.g. rates, block time, mileage reimbursement, cancellation, no shows) by negotiating a legally binding contract with the State that determines many of the terms of our service.

Who are we bargaining a contract with?

  • We are negotiating a contract with the State of Oregon (Department of Administrative Services)
  • Agencies will continue to funnel other private appointments that will NOT be covered by our contract
  • Every few years we will return to the bargaining table. This is an opportunity to continue to improve our working conditions.
