AFSCME Members Win Class Action Seniority Arbitration

City of Salem workers received a significant arbitration decision today that holds their employer responsible for violating their seniority in 2018 and 19. This was a contentious case as their Manager Kevin Hayden had made disparaging remarks about the members' age, indicated that he wanted to give prime shifts to "the younger generation" and then denied senior employees bidding rights to prime shifts.
According to City of Salem AFSCME Local 2067 President, " We hope that Kevin Hayden and other City management learn from today's decision that our members' seniority is a priority and that we expect our contract to be followed."
