Executive Board Names Stacy Chamberlain Executive Director

On July 29th, the Oregon AFSCME Executive Board officially dropped the interim title and named Stacy Chamberlain  Executive Director of Oregon AFSCME.

Stacy is a native of Portland and graduated from Portland State before heading to law school at Willamette University. Prior to working at AFSCME, she was a lead law clerk at the U.S. Attorney’s office and an associate at a Portland Law firm. She also served as a Senior Policy Advisor to Portland City Commissioner Randy Leonard. She has worked for the Council since 2005, and was promoted to the Collective Bargaining Director position in 2013. Her work at the Council means she has a deep working knowledge of how our Council functions both at a Local and Board-level. She also serves as one of our AFSCME's International Vice Presidents. This role gives her a critical seat at the table for our union’s national agenda, something that will undoubtedly benefit our Council.

“I love this Council and I am really excited to work with our members, leaders, and staff to continue building the strongest Council in the country. We face many threats, both at a state and national level, but we are more than ready to face them head on. We are excited to look at innovative and new ways to empower our members. Our focus will be continuing to build power and to work hard on behalf of every member across Oregon."

Stacy will be taking over a management team and staff that is well experienced and ready for the challenges moving forward. Stacy also brings a wealth of knowledge on how our state government and council works. It would be hard to find a better suited individual for this tough job. More than anything, it’s nice for our membership to know we have someone here who is dedicated to this Council now and into the future.
