Kevin Bradshaw has been employed with Kellogg Memphis for 20 years and now serves as Vice President of BCTGM (Bakery Confectionery Tobacco Grainmillers), Local 252G. During his tenure in the organization, he has also served as President, Steward and Trustee.
Since 2012, Mr. Bradshaw has served as the Financial Secretary for Worker's Interfaith Network) (W.I.N.), an organization founded with the help of labor, to support lower-income workers with wage theft and other legal concerns. Additionally, Kevin is the President of C.O.P.P.E.R. (Coalition for the Organizational Protection of People and Equal Rights), which he co-founded in collaboration with many other notable community labor activists like State Representative Barbara Cooper, Senator Raumesh Akbari, Bishop E. Lynn Brown, Trence Jackson, Virgie Banks, Judge D’Army Bailey, Dr. Dwight Montgomery, Rev. Leonard Dawson, Lorenzo Banks, Gail Tyree, Kermit Moore, Evelina Warlix, Kenny Ingram, Jesse Barksdale, Rhonnie Brewer and Yvonne Acey.
Kevin is the current President of C.B.T.U. (Coalition of Black Trade Unions) Memphis, a national constituency union recognized by the National AFL-CIO and co-founded in 1972 by Mr. William "Bill" Lucy, former AFSCME International Secretary-Treasurer and CBTU co-founder. Kevin also serves on the board for Shelby County Workforce Development Board which oversees a multimillion-dollar budget to support the workforce efforts of the Greater Memphis Region to ensure employers properly train & develop employees, as well as create job growth in the area.
Since 2012, Kevin has served on the board of the Central Labor Council of Memphis and West Tennessee, he is now the sitting Financial Secretary which represents over 65,000 union members in the Mid-South.
In 2013, while serving as President of BCTGM Local 252G, Kevin supported, organized and led 226 employees who were illegally locked out by Kellogg. Workers were locked out for 10 months with no wages, benefits or insurance. This major attack on the working class gained national and international attention across the world. With his organizing and communication skills, Kevin was able to share their story on Capitol Hill. Kevin, his leadership team and members along with the help of their International union BCTGM, were able to gain support from Politicians, SCLC, NAN, NAACP, Judges, Lawyers, Clergy, community organizations, working-class people, several unions and union members from all over the world to help them fight to get their jobs back in August 2014.
Kevin’s dedication to organized labor spans more than 20 years and as a result, he has dedicated himself to continued professional development. He has completed several courses for organizing and leadership at the Maritime Institute and the National AFL-CIO Organizing Institute. Mr. Bradshaw has received numerous awards for leadership, such as the Martin Luther King Leadership Award from the SCLC Memphis. He has been honored by several organizations for his leadership, community service, and he has appeared on television and national radio broadcasts.
Kevin is no stranger to helping others in the fight for social-economic justice, he actively supports FF15, Home Healthcare Workers and other unions experiencing labor disputes locally and all over the world. Kevin was born and raised in Lake County, Tennessee and is married to a very supportive and strong woman and is the father of 4 children. Kevin has a dearly departed daughter and grandson. Kevin believes that all people should be able to work and earn a living wage, benefits and insurance for themselves and their families. He can often be heard stating, “Labor is and always will be the backbone of America.”
