Oregon AFSCME Is United For Our Future!

Thank you to all the delegates, guests and staff that helped make our 2023 Oregon AFSCME Convention so successful. It’s hard to think of anything better than seeing and connecting with the over 100 Oregon AFSCME delegates in-person in Salem from across our State.

Convention weekend kicked off with our 2023 Leadership Summit. The summit featured workshops and panel discussions with fellow Oregon AFSCME member leaders and staff, providing tools and best practices for delegates to bring back home with them.

Members walked away with new tools like:

  • Effective leadership tools
  • How to avoid burnout
  • New ways to conduct new employee engagement programs
  • How to develop new leaders and so much more

You can request any of these trainings for your local through our Trainings Request Form!

Electing Our Board and Statewide Officers
Oregon AFSCME is governed by a board of member leaders. This board sets the strategic direction for our union and is constitutionally tasked with specific responsibilities.

Last weekend, delegates from around the state elected a new board and statewide leaders who will work together with members like you to continue to move our union into the future, with renewed energy and focus.

Resolutions and Amendments
In the leadup to our Convention, Oregon AFSCME member leaders focused on some of the most critical issues facing our union and our state. The below resolutions were passed by the Oregon AFSCME Executive Board to the Resolutions Committee at Convention, before passing a vote of all delegates. Click any of the amendments or resolutions to read them for yourself!

Special Guests
In addition to hearing from Oregon AFSCME leaders like President Fred Yungbluth, Executive Director Stacy Chamberlain, Associate Director Joe Baessler, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee Chair Percy Winters, Jr, we were lucky to have AFSCME International President Lee Saunders, AFSCME Local 3299 President and AFSCME International Vice-President Kathryn Lybarger and WFSE Council 28 President Mike Yemstramski speak to us about the state of labor nationally as well as with our neighbors to the north and south.
