Will Not Cross Picketlines To Deliver To OHSU

PORTLAND, OR - With a looming strike 24 hours away, the Oregon Teamsters Joint Council has sanctioned the OHSU postdocs strike, meaning Teamster-represented delivery drivers will not cross picket lines to deliver goods to the OHSU campus.

A strong majority of the over 270 shelter, housing, case management, and behavioral health workers at Do Good Multnomah asked their employer for voluntary recognition of their union after signing union authorization cards. Should Do Good Multnomah refuse to voluntarily recognize the workers’ union, union authorization cards will be submitted to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) next week to trigger an election.

PORTLAND, OR - After nearly a year at the bargaining table and seeing zero progress toward a fair wage, the roughly 250 postdoctoral researchers provided OHSU with the necessary 10 day-notice on Monday, August 5th - that unless OHSU comes forward with a realistic wage proposal, postdocs will go on strike on Thursday, August 15th.

Last week, OHSU postdocs voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike, with nearly 90% voting in favor of a strike.

PORTLAND, OR - Roughly 250 postdoctoral researchers represented by Oregon AFSCME at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) voted yesterday to authorize a strike if OHSU executives continue to offer scrimpy wages and benefits. The vote comes after nine months of OHSU refusing to offer a contract with fair wages, benefits and improved working conditions. With this vote, if necessary, postdoctoral researchers can deliver a 10-day notice to OHSU, indicating the start date of the strike.
